Our healthy food creates healthy bodies and active minds.

Kidz Kabin employs a full-time cook to provide breakfast, lunch and tea for nursery children and for After School Club.

Where possible, food is organic, bought locally and freshly cooked in the Nursery’s purpose-built kitchen. We provide a well-balanced, healthy menu that is mainly vegetarian, with fresh fish (not shellfish) included in some dishes.

Kid sitting in front of dinner plate If children are fussy eaters, we encourage them to try different foods and always offer them healthy alternatives if they refuse the main meal on offer. If the food they choose is very simple, such as plain pasta, we encourage them to have cheese or sauce or something else with it.

If children have food allergies, or are intolerant to certain foods, naturally we cater to their specific needs.

At various times during the day, we also provide healthy snacks.

BREAKFAST 8.30 -9.00 am

We offer a choice of cereals, cows milk or substitute, and toast and spread, jam, marmite, etc.

Snacks 10.30-10.45
We offer a selection of crackers, fresh or dried fruit, drink

Quorn Shepherds pie with mashed potato

Tuesday
Vegetarian Bolognese sauce with Spaghetti

Wednesday
Fishermans Pie (cod, salmon, smoked haddock) with home made béchamel sauce

Thursday
Vegetarian risotto

Friday
Crispy quorn fillets, roast potatoes, carrots and sweetcorn

Week 2

Monday
Vegetable lasagne using fresh seasonal vegetables

Tuesday
Pasta, home made tomato and mushroom sauce

Wednesday
Quorn shepherds pie topped with baby roasted potatoes

Thursday
Risotto with marinated tofu and vegetables

Friday
Baked cod, broccoli and buttered rice

We encourage the children to eat the main choice but will always have cream cheese, or vegetarian slices, hummous, etc available to have in sandwiches. Pasta and cheese is another simple alternative

DESSERTS

A selection of fresh fruit is always available or freshly made fruit puree served with natural yoghurt

TEA 4.00 pm to 4.45 pm

We offer a range of sandwiches, humous and pitta, cheese on toast, baked beans, bagels with smoked salmon , quorn slices, etc. Followed by brioche, raisin pancakes, malt loaf, etc. And a selection of fresh fruit.

The food is prepared each day by our specially trained cook in our state of the art kitchen. The food is always delicious and attractively presented.

We cater for special diets

DRINKS

We offer children full fat milk or semi skimmed milk (over 2’s) in line with Government guidelines.

We do not offer squashes and sugary drinks but fresh drinking water is readily available at all times.
